Gluconolactone is kind of an acid, even though you would probably not guess it from its name. It’s a PHA, or polyhydroxy acid. PHAs are close relatives to the famous AHAs, both in terms of similar chemical structure and similar effects on the skin. It inhibit the loss of epidermal moisture and achieves the effect of retaining water and beautifying the skin. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
It mildly exfoliates without irritating the skin.
Its large size makes it penetrate the cells slowly and hydrates the skin better skin than AHA.
It reduces wrinkles and refines skin texture
It is more suitable for sensitive skin that AHA.
It also works as a heavy metal chelator (EDTA substitute) and pH regulator.
It is ECOCERT/COSMOS approved.
